Marta Person Villa joined JLL in October 2016 as a senior vice president responsible for expanding retail brokerage services in New Jersey. She has more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience and specializes in landlord representation, occupier site selection and investment property acquisition and disposition.
Ms. Villa has brokerage expertise in retail development sites, free standing buildings and multi-tenant properties, both occupied and vacant. She is responsible for the sale of a ten-acre site in Wall Township to Mega Holdings, LLC, under development as a 65,000 square foot lifestyle center on Route 35.
Currently, Ms. Villa’s premier agencies include the Shoppes on Broad for the Prudential Insurance Company of America in Newark, the “Wall Promenade” at the Jersey Shore and a traditional grocery-anchored shopping center, The Vault in Red Bank, 427 and 475 Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair and many more.
Prior to joining JLL, Ms. Villa served on the team for Jersey City’s Newport Tower. She secured nearly 30,000 square feet of retail for the Class A office asset, including Chipotle, B. Good, Gregory’s Coffee and Scottrade. In addition, she was part of the disposition team for IKEA in Elizabeth, disposing of 73 acres owned by IKEA in order to attract more retail to Elizabeth Center.
Ms. Villa has also worked with clients including West Marine, Tuesday Morning, WaWa, McDonald’s, Immediate Care, Sky Zone, Goodyear, Santander Bank, Red Brick Pizza Cafe and Wingstop. Before her career in retail brokerage, Ms. Villa spent nearly 20 years in urban redevelopment and downtown revitalization, working directly for municipalities and non-profits. Earlier in her career, Villa served as a broker/owner of Square Foot LLC, founded in 1998, which provided commercial leasing and consulting services to owners, owners' associations, cities and tenants throughout New Jersey. Ms. Villa’s previous roles include the administrator for the Borough of Red Bank, and the director of downtown alliances in Newark, Red Bank, Cranford and Bloomfield. She is credited with the revitalization of Red Bank, which was named "Hip Town" by NJ Monthly magazine.
Education and Affiliations
Ms. Villa earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Richmond and is a licensed real estate broker in the state of New Jersey. She is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and served as private sector co-chair of the ICSC Alliance – NJ from 2010 to 2013.
